If you're building a new website (or restructuring) it's important to get the basics right. You might be wondering if you should do a single-page website or a multi-page website. In most cases go for a multi-page website. You really can't compete with a multi-page website.

After deciding to go for a multi-page website you need to get it right from the start. Things you need to look out for are:

  • Mobile friendlyness, make it responsive. This is listed at the bottom of the article. But you need to address this at the front of building the website. It's a pain in the ass to redo an entire website getting it mobile-ready.
  • Don't forget robots.txt, sitemap.xml and HTTPS. If you're using Yoast for WordPress the first two are easy.
  • Mind the important pages: about, contact, disclaimer, privacy policy.
